  1. Why does the mob guy look after Terry? Are they related? Why didnt Terry go to school? Terrys brother is educated why isnt he?

  2. I really like this film so far. I think that it has a good plot line and it keeps the watchers attention. I don't understand why when the kid was crying and threw a pigeon at Terry why he said a pigeon for a pigeon. Was it because he was part of the reason Joey died or was the kid calling Terry himself a pigeon? If so, what does that mean?

  3. I really disliked this film. I thought it clearly got its point across that Terry is a coward but that was very boring to watch. I would have much rather seen more character development of Edie trying to avenge her brother's death.

  4. I liked this film. All the criminal activities definitely keep the audiences attention. I though that when Terry finally decided to testify it showed that he was, in the beginning of the movie, naïve but then became brave and stood up to the mob. When Terry’s brother picked him up and offered him a job was he doing that to save himself or to protect Terry?

  5. I enjoyed this movie because with everything going on it causes you to be hooked onto the film. You can tell with Terry that he is definitely different than everyone else in the mob. He doesn't want to be a part of it because he would rather be with Edie. I think that because of Edie he became stronger and more willing to stick up against the mob. I also am curious as to why Terry's brother wanted him to take that job so badly.

  6. So far this is my least favorite film that we have watched yet because I think that the plot is boring. I'm confused with the role of the Father Barry in the film, is he just there to try to encourage the dock workers to do the right thing? Or does he represent something else? I liked the part of the film where Terry testifies about Joey's murder because he is finally standing up for what is right.

  7. I missed the first day we watch the film so when I came back and watched the film I was so confused and then I saw the film on my own and well I feel indifferent about it. What I really liked was when Terry's brother was killed because that was the drive for Terry to testify about Joey's murder. BUT I do think that Terry's brother could have had a tragic accident and survived rather than died, personally I think it would have had the same impact on Terry to force him testify. Also some parts of the film were so confusing to me like when the kid cries "a pigeon for a pigeon" what is that supposed to mean?? Just to add, I liked Father Barry's quote "Isn't it simple as 1, 2, 3? 1. the working conditions are bad. 2. they're bad because the mob does the hiring. 3. The only way we can break the mob is to stop letting them get away with murder. " I just thought that it was creative

  8. I thought this movie was interesting. All the mob activity kept me very interested. Was Fred Gwynne one of the mobsters?

  9. I wasn't really a fan of this movie, at times I found myself spacing out and doodling and not really paying attention. However, the acting done by the characters was more believing than the previous movies we have watched.

  10. Overall, I thought that this was a pretty good movie. So far, there hasn't been any movie that I can say I didn't like. I think that what makes this movie so great is that it's different from like the other movies we have seen because they have all these "mob" guys who like talk funny and stuff and it's a different plot from something seen before. I like the moral of the movie because putting ourselves in Terry's shoes it shows us that we should stand up for what we believe in and to not let fear keep us from doing that. I also like how Edie also is there to push Terry to do what's right and how close they get throughout the movie.

  11. I really liked this movie a lot, especially because it was old but was one of the only old movies I've seen where I really felt for the characters. The suspense was grabbing, the characters were very well acted. The plot line was good, but I think it was the acting that made me like the film a lot. Like you said in class, the characters were more human than understandable, but even when you couldn't understand the dialogue, the message was still clear through the genuine human actions. My favorite part was the big intense scene at the end that involved the fight and Johnny Friendly getting drained.

  12. I enjoyed the movie. The plot wasn't as developed as other movies we watched. However, the acting and directing of On The Waterfront was very well done.

  13. I really enjoyed the movie, even though i sort of didnt understand why they told us that Terry had a background of boxing, i thought that the director could have left that out and given him a different background.

  14. I hated the movie because I felt like there wasn't enough action in it. The characters didn't make it believable and the mobsters didn't quite portray their roles as mobsters. The ending was filmed very well. Making sure to film his feet as he was struggling to walk and change the clarity of the screen as he is walking to make it seem as if we are seeing through Terry's eyes was brilliant. The ending was filmed very well. I would not watch this movie again.

  15. Out of all the movies this was my least favorite, it never kept my interest and was all in all a boring movie.
